Welcome to the Children's Discovery Center. We recognize your need for reliable child-care services and are endeavoring to meet your needs by providing loving, nurturing care for your children. We would like to work with you as a team, sharing ideas and concerns about the growth and development of your child.
Raising children is not an easy job, nor is the responsibility a light one. We want parents to talk over any problems they may be having with their children at home, as we may be having the same problem at school. Together, we may be able to come to an understanding of the problem and unite in working towards correcting the situation in the best possible way. We don't have all the answers to every situation, but it is our desire to be of help and service if possible.
Parents are welcomed to visit at any time during the day. We do suggest that you come in the mornings because that is when you will be able to see the children engaged in the most activities. We enjoy the parent volunteers who help out on a regular basis too!
In addition to care for children two years through kindergarten-age, the Children's Discovery Center provides valuable educational experiences and fosters growth and development in all aspects of the children's lives: spiritual, social, intellectual, and physical. Children participate in activities designed to help them grow into independent, creative, confident, and thoughtful individuals able to work effectively with adults and other children.

Hours
The Children's Discovery Center is open from 6:45 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. We are closed on weekends, legal holidays and the week between Christmas and New Year's Day.
Holidays
The center is closed on the following major holidays: New Year's Day, Martin Luther King's Day, President's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving Day, the day following Thanksgiving, and Christmas vacation (from 4:00 p.m. Christmas Eve through January 1). The Children's Discovery Center will be closed one day in October or in March of each year so that our teachers can attend a continuing education workshop.
Program Format
The rooms are divided into various learning centers. During their time indoors, children are encouraged to work at the centers of their choice. These include Math, Science, Language, Art, Music, Cooking, Dramatic Play, and Manipulative / Fine Motor. Each week there will be a theme that we will study as a group.
In addition, there will be physical development activities (indoor and outdoor), group time activities to begin and end the morning, at lunchtime, and at naptime.
The spiritual emphasis will consist of character-building lessons taught through songs, stories, and finger plays on the subjects of love, brotherly kindness, patience, temperance, knowledge, virtue and faith.
